Advent Grotto

Its been the York Steiner School advent farye today.  Which was the usual enjoyable chaos and bedlum.  The best bit is always the advent grotto, which is a normal room transformed into a cave of delights.  The floor is strewn with leaves, fake snow, snow fakes, leaves, trees, elves, christmas scenes, nativity stuff, gnomie gardens, gnomie caves, glittering lights, sparkling snow drops, gems, gold, silver, frankincense, mir and a thousand of other treasures.

It all reminds me a bit of stepping through the wardrobe in "the lion the witch an
d the wardrobe" or opening the box of delights (as in the "box of delghts" a great 80s kids series which was pure magic when I was a lad).  There was no fawn or snow witch but there was a softly spoken guide to highlight the points of interest.  Good fun almost as good fun as "punch drunk" at the Big Chill festival 2004, that was pure magic too (street theatre come willy wonkas chocolate factory in one).
